The purpose is the Kids classes is to instill good behavior
and habits for success using the principles of Taekwondo
in a fun but disciplined atmosphere. One of the tools we
use to accomplish this is the stripe system.

Stretching is very important for martial arts and general health

The Black Stripe:
This is the behavior stripe. A checklist of items of good
behavior items is given to the parent. Items such as
"Cooperation with teachers. Excellent____ good____etc."
This is reviewed by the parent and handed in to the
instructor. If the items graded average out to be good
Then the child is rewarded a black stripe. It the child
slips in one or more of these items, then the parent
can remove the black stripe and ask for another form
the child then has two weeks to bring the rating up to
at least "good".
It must be noted here that the student can not test for
his or her next belt without the black stripe.
The Orange Stripe:
When a report card comes in, it is reviewed by one of the
instructors. If it is determined that the student is doing his
or her best in school, the an orange stripe is awarded. It
not the child is given additional time to bring up grades in
question.
The Green Stripe;
Every student is encouraged to read. The path to imagination,
fun and knowledge. For every 5 titles and authors turned in,
the student is awarded one green stripe.
The Purple Stripe;
The purple stripe is awarded the student when he or she
surpass expectations. It can be doing a chore around the
house without being asked. Volunteering to help someone
on their own. Or doing something of value in the community
This sets them on the right path of being recognized for
good works. With the aquisition of 3 purple stripes by test time the student also recieves a Gold medal along with a new belt
The Red Stripe;
This stripe is awarded when the student demonstrates
proficiency in their forms.
The Blue Stripe;
This stripe is awarded when the student shows proficiency
in their required self-defense and one step sparring routines
for their belts.
